Chocolate Review #1 Cont.

Milena Chocolates from Argentina, the hollow Christmas tree this time:

The outer shell has a good texture, firmness, and taste. It's milk chocolate, but definitely a higher cacao content as it has a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Inside I found malt-ball like cookies covered in chocolate and rounded into balls. Sadly, the tree had broken in my bag, so it wasn't completely a surprise but a nice additive and difficult to do. (I saw how they made the Lindt hollow chocolates at the Cologne Chocolate Museum in Germany last fall.) The Whopper-like balls have a nice texture and slightly sweet taste. There are even white chocolate decorations added to the outer shell as tree bulbs. I especially like the elegant packaging, including a festive red and green ribbon on the top of the tree, the attentive packaging and sealed and dated for best time to consume. My tree is dated 11/25/07 and good until 3/25/08. Homemade chocolate doesn't have preservatives to make the chocolate last longer and taste better, so all of these Argentine chocs had 4 month shelf life.

Overall: 7 for quality cacao taste. The inner maltball surprise was fun, and nice details.
