Sad, I've been meaning to write a little thought or random story each night and keep not making enough time to do it. So, I will recap on the past two days:
Tuesday: Best class ever
I think I have the best Tuesday schedule I have ever had in the history of my college career: Yoga then Floral Design for Weddings, then done at noon for the rest of the day! The best thing about it was today in my floral class we got to look in on a design class that some Korean women had come to the U.S. to learn our way of floral design. They had been here for a month and this was their last class. Our professor wanted us to walk in and see their designs as well as discuss with them what was different about our design vs. theirs. As I walked in to meet them, I said "Ayn young" with a smile on my face, and they whole room gasped, excited that I spoke some Korean. (Sadly, that is all I know...and it only means hello.) But it made me feel so good to make them feel a little more welcome and comfortable since a lot of them didn't speak English. One woman even took a picture with me, then later gave me her bouquet that she had made. Oh how I would love to go to South Korea! I am so passionate about learning their culture!
Wednesday: Little kids, the de-stresser
I babysat for a family that has 8 kids tonight (fortunately 1 was asleep). Now normally this would have been chaos, but these kids are really good and respectful. We watched Tom and Jerry for an hour and I can't remember the last time I watched cartoons for that long and laughed so much. They're excitement about telling me what was about to happen in the cartoon, and random stories about movies they had seen, was so cute! And the only girl in the group cuddled next to me on the couch, happy to have another girl in the house. It took me another hour to get them to sleep, but just answering their inquisitive questions, calming their fears, and laughing at their cute pronunciations of all things made it all worth it. After a long day of going and going...it was an unexpected calming to end the day.
