A few years ago I made it one of my goals to visit every building on campus. Since it's my last semester, I decided that I have to get on the long list of ones I haven't ventured into. So today I had extra time after classes and decided I had time to visit two bldgs:
1. The first was the Heep Building on west campus. I'd been in it before, but never really up in the floors or just walked around. I've always liked it becasue it has so much natural lighting and indoor plants, and after touring around discovered it had balcony-like sitting rooms on each floor connecting the sides and open to the whole building. Well designed. But my favorite finds were the Environmental Baking and Food Processing Lab (where they had actual baking machines with fires going) and I saw tortillas! And the random room with tons of insects, including cicadas and a huge turantula...Bathrooms: old and gross, outdated.
2. The second was the Coke bldg that I was assigned to take a picture of junior year, but never have been inside. It's a very historical building for A&M and even has the words "A&M College of Texas" imprinted in the floor as the seal when you walk in. I discovered that it was the home of the Liberal Arts College, and liked the 3rd floor the best as it was the dean's and decorated nicely. The best find: a door with the room number 304 on it leading to some fun stairs. Bathroom: updated but unimpressive. My favorite bathrooms are in Rudder Tower 2nd floor. Yes, bathrooms matter too. Especially for architecture...
