Before I write too much, I just wanted to say that I am thankful. I am thankful God gave me today. I am thankful God has given me the past 5 years on this blog. I am thankful that tomorrow is a new day.
I stayed home today. I stayed in bed most of the day. I got up twice to go to the kitchen. I slept, I wept, and I let my thoughts wander. I've been sick for about a month now, and I am tired of it. I decided I'd give my body a literal day of rest and tried to be very low key today. I slept 14 hours last night, and today, in the midst of trying to recover from my bronchitis, I watched a movie.
To be honest, I think the last movie I saw was The Avengers. I don't remember the last movie I watched in my apartment. I really love movies, but this year has been a busy one without nights to watch. However, I watched Amazing Grace today, and I was reminded how much movies affect me.
I love a good story. I love stories so much, that I often continue them in my head as I dream. Very rarely do I have nonsensical dreams; no, I have continuation dreams. What I was inspired by from the movie I hope does become a dream in my sleep tonight, because I saw God at work in history. William Wilberforce's story is truly motivational. I honestly did not know about his great contribution to helping end the British slave trade but also helping end it for the rest of the world. I did not know how his faith in God contributed to his passion, or about his wife, Barbara Spooner's role in helping encourage him on.
I get exhausted just thinking about all of the problems in the world today and too often selfishly plead for God to do things for me, without a thought to those hurting all around me. Human trafficking is such a problem, and I want to be able to help. I commit to being able to help in this world, one day at a time. For I have a HOPE and a JOY that will never go away. Desires shift and change, but faith, hope, and love will always last in Christ.
