Pie in the Sky
This is the name of the restaurant in the Heights I visited today with my friends Amy and Jonathan. It was delicious! I was intrigued though by the name and logo. Both were so familiar, but I could not remember why. Then, I read the brief cafe story and discovered it was started at a gas station in Conroe. Then It came to me: last year, I went on a site visit to Conroe to take pictures of our designs there. While driving around town, I saw a gas station with a Pie in the Sky sign. Hungry, I checked it out but the pie was not there. Disappointed, I took a picture of the sign to look it up later in curiosity but never did. Now, a year later, I was sitting in the month old Heights location, eating the best slice of Buttermilk pie I have ever tasted. Yum! I highly recommend this place. It had a nice country meets hipster atmosphere, unique marketing (no pie, no piece, like peace), and delicious food. I had the club sandwich and sweet potato fries. The club sandwich was fresh, crispy bacon, and huge! I have a really small mouth and had difficulty. I wouldn't order this on a date since my result was a mess, but the fries balanced it out well. The Southern Pecan Pie was delicious as well. Go check it out at 19th and N Shepherd!
