Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go

I've had this song by the Robbie Seay band stuck in my head all day, as I listened to it this morning and am now playing it again as it popped into my head as I walked in just now. It's such an encouragement, and my favorite line is, "Rejoice my heart, rejoice my soul, my Savior God has come to Thee. Rejoice my heart, you've been made whole, by a love that will not let me go. Oh, a love that will not let me go..."

A love that will not let me go? Seriously? Yes. I find myself to be a cynic sometimes. I am usually the positive one in a group, but at times, I wonder...will it last? So many times things don't. The excitement dies. Someone lets me down. Even worse, someone pulls away and removes their friendship. A client releases their frustration and thus I lose respect. My love doesn't last either though. I get so excited about a book or magazine, then it lays for weeks tossed aside. A new project at home turns into a 7 month affair. So it's really hard for me to grasp this, when my cynicism is brought out by remembering my own and others failings.

I love a lot of things: dancing, really good chocolate, finding new restaurants, traveling, my family, friends...but even my love isn't enough for me to pledge that I will never let go of these things. I love tennis, but someday I may let it go due to injury or inability. I love my church but someday I may be called somewhere else. I love my family, but sometimes even my relationships falter or change or fade. But God's love? He never, ever, ever...times infinity falters, changes or fades.

So, alas, rejoice my heart...it's a love that will not let me go. Forever...never...Forever. It will not let me go! He will never, ever, let us go.
