10K Madness

I ran in a 10K race yesterday and it was amazing! After training for just 2 weeks, Ann and I decided that we were good to go. 5 miles was the most we'd trained for, and the race was 6.2...but we decided adrenaline would push us on. And it did! Besides being a beautiful day, the air was crisp and unstuffy, the sun warm and enveloping as we jogged along down country roads surrounded by wildflowers.

We finished in a sprint, me finishing at just over a ten minute mile at 1'04"18"" and coming in 163 out of about 300 runners. The #1 guy ran it in 34'04"...insanity!

I took a 3.5 hour nap afterwards but was not heaving or near as sore as I anticipated. And even today my body is just fine...how amazing to know that you can be so active...and so healthy. I feel so alive!

It was on my list of things to do before I graduate. And now I can check it off. Phew!
