No matter what, JOY always overwhelms me in unexpected moments. I love that. Today was a great sabbath so far, reflecting on God's goodness, confessing my disobedience, and drawing near to a loving God who gives me grace I humbly accept and hope to pass on in my own relationships.
I've been listening to old Baptist hymns this morning, and it's been soothing my soul. The words are poignant, and "High King of Heaven, My Treasure Thou Art" is what my soul is singing today. When I am the most distracted, the most focused on my own triumphs, my own progress, I forget my Creator. I become my own god. I don't like that place. I realize that it's a daily reminder of truth, it's a daily desire to love God and love others, and it's a daily reminder of God's great presence in our lives that makes everything come together. That is the worldview I want to live in. That is the place I want to stay. And though I'm a wanderer, I am learning that it's this process that continues to refine and edify me...into who I want to be and less of who I do not.
Happy Saturday! May we all live in JOYFUL hope today.
