Day 5: It's Slowly Sinking In

So since Friday, I've had an interesting past four days. I've researched and found out way too many items have gluten...but the good news is there are tons of blogs and websites with tips. I found myself at a low point on Sunday, frustrated with eating out and craving my mom's chocolate chip cookies but unable to eat any of the 20 she sent home with me.

So...today I was proactive in finding sweets I could actually eat. I found this really helpful list of Halloween Candy: http://celiacfamily.com/gluten-free-halloween-candy/ I discovered I could actually eat those peanut M&Ms in my office-sweet! But those brownies or cookies my coworker thoughtfully brought in must be avoided. It was especially hard to turn down cake and ice cream for the birthday celebration yesterday. Just plain icing was quite unfilling. I think that's what made me cave last night and try a friends' mac' n' cheese (...besides feeling obligated to comment since she was new to the group).

But I'm determined not to quit and really stick with this diet to see if I really am gluten intolerant. I don't feel much different, but only time will tell. I read online that if you are gluten intolerant and keep eating it, your risk of stomach cancer doubles. No thank you, I will persevere!
