- A 32 mile long bike ride with my dad and brother in preparation for a 150 mile bike ride in October. Although I made it the whole way, I think I just might skip out in October. I was so impressed that my body didn't give up (must be the half-marathon training), but I just don't think training for both is a good idea right now...but maybe the MS 150 in the spring!
- A 5 hour walk around ghetto east downtown with Thomas counting and identifying trees. Actually quite fun and not overly hot, and the BBQ lunch afterwards was a great reward.
- A 3.5 work week...seriously. With Hurricane Ike on the way, I got off at noon today and am off tomorrow. Hooray for days off!
- Kickball league started last night. We (the Recess Rejects) won our first 4-3 (I scored the winning run!) and sadly lost our 2nd to New Kicks on the Block. We will get our revenge later in the season, beware! I of course ended the game, with a bloodied knee and bruised jaw from running into the dugout post while attempting to catch a fly, but the team overall looked pretty good. I played first base and really liked it. Besides feeling completely lost without a glove on my hand while standing in a baseball field, I finally adjusted and guarded my base.
- Evacuation. And preparing. At work we had anxiousness all around as we packed up our computers and cleared our desks. There is no telling what it will be like when we get back, but I hope it's not what we're expecting. The coast is evacuating...which of course means my family. And I'm going to join them at my uncle's and ride this thing out. Crazy weather excites me, but I can't say I'm not just a wee bit afraid. God is in control, but I have a healthy relationship with not being foolish...watching the storm from a safe distance is going to be quite an adventure!
