Sitting here listening to the newly discovered band Explosions in the Sky, I can't help but feel like I have a soundtrack to my thoughts right now. Words have been wanting to flow out of me all day, but in the midst of naps, chores, and magazine perusing, they fell away. Finally, as it nears midnight, the words come.
I love it when I feel a new season of my life is on it's way. I feel as if I've reached the part of my hike that has led me to the top of the hill, the edge of the cliff. I look back and smile at the memories of what has brought me to this place. Then I look out into the distance and smile at the haze of what is yet to come. I pause in reflection of the present, fully enjoying being in the moment. Fully grasping who I am now, not who I was then. I finally see over the edge of the cliff. I finally recognize the value of those past conversations, interactions, complications. I finally take a deep breath and find contentment and JOY flows through me. I've said my thank yous. I've said my sorrys. I've pouted. I've shouted. I've cried. I've rejoiced. Now, on the brink, I jump.
I'm jumping. I'm flying. I'm free. Free to fly into a new journey. A new place of life. A new adventure. Where each day will be defined by the next. Where God controls the wind that guides my direction. Where remembering the lessons of the past, fully claiming grace for those mistakes, I lean into the wisdom that is mine for the taking today. I fly free but not aimless. I fly with purpose, passion, and JOY. I journey on into the next season, with excitement and breathless vigor...ready to see the next explosions in the sky, the new memories that will someday be reflected on but most of all rejoiced in.
