You know, sometimes when weeks are busy and tasks pile up, I savor the little victories. Those moments when you rejoice at the simple things, like remembering to pack your lunch the night before, wear your shirt right side out, and to avoid putting the keys in the refrigerator. All of these are little victories for me because I have done all in the past couple of weeks in the midst of absent-minded "spaceyness".
This morning I was typing up a presentation and realized that we were using the term "Stationary Stores". A fellow coworker had written this out, one who is very particular about his verbage and formatting, but he overlooked it. As I typed, I knew that it should be "stationery". Double checking on dictionary.com proved that I was right- point Adrienne! I was so proud in that little moment because it's the little things that often make up the big ones. To mispell the city name or something else would be far worse on the powerpoint, but attention to simple details reflects a professional appearance and true care about a project (or pure anality...). I have always loved grammar, literature, and the art of the English language, so I am proud that few mistakes get past me.
There is a song by Matt Nathanson called, "Little Victories". I often start singing that song to myself in the moments of accomplishment joy. "I get by...on little victories...". Because I really do get by on little victories. They are the extra boost during the day that keeps me from reaching for the coffee pot, or worse, 5-hour energy!
